How will the end of the world play out?

Lets say that the end of the world isn't a result of the sun taking us over. But, maybe it's something else completely that caused life on earth to end. What if it's a nuclear disaster that spreads accross the world? Maybe a massive meteor or asteroid hurdles towards earth and causes mass extinction. What could happen?

It's possible a meteor or asteroid could hit us, in turn ending life on earth. I don't think it'll end in my lifetime or many lifetimes to come. But I too think it'll end before the sun takes over.

There are a lot of possible scenarios.
The end of the world can be man-made, a nuclear war, abuse of resources, contamination, finding new viruses by invading natural environments.
It could be totally natural, an asteroid, geo-storms, virus (unprovoked), deseases, global warming and floods,a new ice age.
We really are lucky to be alive, let's enjoy our time in the blue marble.

I am interested in how the metaphoric end of the world in the Book of Revelation plays out. The climax in Chapter 21 says that there will be a "new heaven and a new earth", i.e., a new cosmology, and "there will be no sea", i.e., the cosmic sea of interplanetary space will become passable by spacecraft. Since we have already experienced space travel, the end times question now boils down to how the adoption of the new cosmology that will replace Abrahamic religion will play out. I see it as going way past the Big Bang astronomical cosmology that is currently the default meaning of the word "cosmology". I see that it will be based on Einsteinian simplicity and will allow the calculation of fundamental constants based on the principle that causality operates both forward and backward in time. This mixture of free will with fatalism will unite science and religion, which today are based on conflicting dogmas about causality. A "New Jerusalem" encompassing the entire inhabited area of the earth will be built using a new paradigm of technology. I see the explosive awareness of the new cosmology and technology to occur in the near future. The Toba volcanic supereruption 74,000 years ago initiated the rise of "homo faber", i.e., hominids who can develop technology much faster than their own evolution. After looking at the convergence of many historical cycles at many scales going back at least to the Toba supereruption, I see the next northern winter solstice on 2021 December 21 as being the marker of the arrival of the new awareness. Have people on this forum also been seeing hints of such a scenario?
